‘Fashion is the silver lining of life. When I was studying at the Eindhoven Academy I would often visit thrift stores for second hand clothing. Leather gloves, fur products, old fashioned bras. For just a few dollars I could buy very cool things and I could develop my own style.
I practically never buy any brand new clothes. I have racks full of bridal gowns and evening dresses. I buy them at the Noordermarkt or in Florence. I cut them up and dye the fabric.
Brandless vintage items are the most exciting. It truly brings out your own vision on something. My fashion icon is Daphne Guinness, her designs are so extravagant, truly fantastic.
I also wear a lot of fur. In my opinion, if it’s there you should wear it instead of throwing it out. On top of that, the fake fur industry is far too polluting.
