Consumers
Consumers have to find out how they can enjoy fashion without shopping for new
clothes. Re-use, re-touch, re-style, re-pair and re-peat fashion RE LOVE FASHION.
Companies
Companies have to re-invent business models. We are forced to radically reset our habits,
both personal and economical. Securities in both areas disappeared overnight. Time beats to a slower drum. The speed of fashion and its consumption rate are forced to slow down. Fashion shows are canceled, new collections can’t be delivered and shops are closing. And at the same time, many people suddenly have more time on their hands.
Time to reflect. Time to re-think. The fashion industry is (was?) the second largest
polluter in the world. Corona forced the high speed fashion train to slow down. It forced the fashion industry to reduce its pollution. Prior to Corona, sustainable production was gaining ground, but it wasn't a real solution - it was like light mayonnaise: encouraging you to still eat as much as you want... Sustainable production doesn’t solve the pollution problem. And while the fashion industry was very aware of the pollution problems, the high speed fashion train was unstoppable, for economical reasons. And now Corona has forced that train to reduce speed, in fact it has almost stopped it.
